Based on the recommendations today from the Prime Minister, BC provincial health officer Bonnie Henry, and Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps, effective immediately I will not be teaching in-person classes but will continue to post readings. MokSana Yoga is closed and is working to arrange video link classes which could make the Tuesday restorative class available for you at home, Victoria Pilates is closed for the time being, and I will not be teaching my Wed/Sunday classes at Helga's until at least the end of March; will re-evaluate at the end of the month depending on the trajectory of transmission at that time. You can access some of my colleague's classes at the web-based DoYogaWithMe.com
Sending love and gratitude for all of you! Take care of yourselves, and when you are able do something kind for another... may we all meet this difficulty with compassion and an invitation for the best in ourselves to shine through. Here is a moving and relevant reading sent to me by a student
PANDEMIC, by Lynn Ungar
What if you thought of it as the Jews consider the Sabbath--the most sacred of times?
Cease from travel. Cease from buying and selling.
Give up, just for now, on trying to make the world different than it is.
Sing. Pray. Touch only those to whom you commit your life. Center down.
And when your body has become still, reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives are in one another’s hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands. Reach out your heart. Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils of compassion that move, invisibly, where we cannot touch.
Promise this world your love--for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, so long as we all shall live.
