From head to heart
Move from here
Yoga practice, including the practice of physical postures, is about expanding and deepening our awareness; helping us to clearly and openly meet what is, and then respond, moving in the direction we want to go with more ease and interconnection. This requires us to feel deeply and sensitively, with our whole self, the particular, and the greater whole of our experience, rather than trying to think or muscle our way through our practice
Today's beautiful reading is from Kristen Walsh, who recently completed her iRest training with my teacher Richard Miller and his colleagues Buddhi [wisdom] A pebble Drops From head to heart Move from here To deepen from last week, part of coming from our own centre is releasing the pattern of looking, searching, seeking, and turning inwards to our own deep knowing, and this is one of the purposes of our practice - to help us become aware of our sensations, thoughts, emotions, patterns...and if we're persistent and grace allows to touch the clarity beneath them
From Hadewijch, the 13th Century philosopher poet: You who want knowledge, seek the Oneness within Ther you will find the clear mirror already waiting. Welcome to our first session of 2021 everyone! This session, we'll be working on balance on all levels of our being, and living from our centre - rooted and flexible. In order to do so, we must begin from humbleness; accepting who and how we are right now, and beginning from where we actually are. Over time, we are learning to be at home in and with ourselves as we move in the directions we hope and intend to go...
From the inimitable Wendell Berry: And the world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles, no matter how long, but only by a spiritual journey, a journey of one inch, very arduous and humbling and joyful, by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home. Looking forward to seeing you all this week for some new year explorations |
