Pains, difficulties, reactions ask us to stop. To open to our actual experience (not the interpretation or story of our experience), to welcome what we are experiencing and to listen or inquire deeply and with compassionate curiosity. In the tradition, this three-part practice is called shravana (listening/welcoming), manana (inquiring/wondering about) and nididhyasana (contemplating).
